A studio exhibition of recent works by Cathy Bacon and Helle Helsner concerning memory and the unconscious through Land and Seascapes experienced on the Beara Peninsular.

Helle Helsner is an artist and lecturer in Crawford College of Art and Design. She is currently pursuing a PhD through Burren College of Art through a MTU staff scholarship with research based on the copper mines and social history of Allihies, investigating materiality, memory, and landscape though expanded drawing and sculpture. She set up her studio in Distillery Lane in Skibbereen in October 2023. 

Cathy Bacon is an artist living in Eyeries on the Beara Peninsular for the past 20 years – raising a family and setting up her own studio.  Her work celebrates the primal nature of being – of a rural life lived on the edge of the theming Atlantic Ocean, resonating with the complexity of emotions of history, nature, beauty, and pain. The hazy mysterious images evoking a timelessness in an effort to connect with the world and honour our one beautiful life.
