Come along to Ar n-Áit on Levis’ Quay for an interactive poetry session with Cork poet Kemi George Simpson. Participation will be voluntary but those in attendance will be moved, entertained and inspired by her unique approach to poetry readings.
Cork has been home to Kemi George Simpson for 21 years. Winner of the Good Day Cork Poetry prize, she is also a Munster County Poetry Slam Champion. Kemi curates and facilitates Cork’s monthly Poets Library workshops. Achieving a Masters in creative writing as a dyslexic, demonstrates her commitment to her craft.
Swerve, The Four Faced Liar, Blaithí, Cork Poetry in the Park Collection and Everyone Started Singing Anthology all contain her work. Past performances include Electric Picnic, West Cork Literature Festival, The Cork International Poetry Festival, Ó Bhéal’s Winter Warmer Festival, Africa Day Cork, Swerve’s Lit Lounge, Da Barras Fol Club, Levi's Corner House, and Push The Boat Out Festival.
Kemi follows the curve of tree branches to stop her mind from getting stuck.
