Come join us for a relaxing and creative afternoon at O’Donovan Rossa Memorial Park with artist Nicola McCarthy.
In this event, you will have the opportunity to learn how to co-create a beautiful Sacred Mandala while enjoying the peaceful surroundings of the park. Using all natural materials, leaves, stones, twigs, petals, together we will grow a circle of peace. Nicola will begin the Gathering with a short introduction to the process from where she will guide us in the meditative practice.
Meitheal - an Irish word meaning a collective effort for the greater good of the community.
Mandalas, Sanskrit for circle, are used across the world in many different cultures since ancient times. They are a conduit to deep inner calm. When created in nature they connect us to the gorgeous cycle of life all around.
Life long artist and Skibbereen native, Nicola McCarthy has always been interested in how art and nature intertwine. A graduate of Fine Art Painting, attracted to colour, shape and texture, an explorer of the deeper underlining energy of creativity. Living in San Francisco for 25 years helped develop an art practice that combines paint, nature and yoga. Now permanently relocated back home in West Cork, enjoying the stunning local landscape, recently certified in Art Therapy, teaching Art and Yoga, creating and facilitating Mandala workshops and exhibiting her Fine Art. Nicola’s work can be seen this summer in the Skibbereen Library through July and start of August.
