'Live Portrait' Artist Competition
"Every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not of the sitter. The sitter is merely the accident, the occasion. It is not he who is revealed by the painter; it is rather the painter who, on the coloured canvas, reveals himself." – Oscar Wilde (The Picture of Dorian Grey)
In Skibbereen’s first Portrait Artist Competition, four artists who have been selected through a highly competitive open call will create a live portrait of West Cork’s favourite singer-songwriter, Lisa Hannigan.
The public are invited to call in to the workspace, second floor at Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre throughout the day to see the artists at work as their portraits come to life.
The competition winner will be chosen through a combination of a panel decision and a public vote. The finished paintings will be on display in Field’s window for the duration of the festival. Come out and vote for your favourite!
- The winning artist will be awarded a four-week artist residency at the prestigious
Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre plus a €500 cash prize. - All selected artists will receive a day fee.
