Mon 29 July. 2-3:30pm. A musical & poetry performance by Thaddeus Ó Buachalla

Renowned Irish-language writer Thaddeus Ó Buachalla is an author, novelist, poet and musician. His novel EL won Irish language book of the year at the An Post Irish Book Awards in 2022. His show Immram an Phréacháin, a spoken word epic poem with accompanying music, has been widely performed since its debut at the IMRAM festival in Dublin.

Tue 30 July. 2pm.  Singing workshop with Máire Ní Cheallacháir

Enjoy learning a selection of Sean nós songs from renowned singer, Máire Ní Chéileachair. Máire will teach songs in both Irish and English and share some of her distinctive singing techniques and style. No singing experience necessary. Come, use your voice and learn some Irish words in the process! All welcome.

Máire Ní Chéileachair is a sean-nós singer from Farran, Co. Cork, who inherited her love of traditional songs and music from her family roots in Kilnamartyra in the Muskerry Gaeltacht of Co. Cork. She has been teaching sean-nós singing to young people in that Gaeltacht since the "Aisling Gheal" scheme started in 2000. She has been teaching sean-nós singing in University College, Cork, since 2013. A winner of many prizes at Fleadh Cheoil and Oireachtas na Gaeilge singing competitions she won the premier sean-nós singing

Take a bilingual walk around the Rock, Skibbereen, with the poet, musician, singer-songwriter, artist, facilitator, and "tour guide", Pól Ó Colmáin. Learn about this unique place and enjoy the stunning view.

Trad & Tunes session with Irish songs led by Gerry Tuohy. 

Plus: A special treat – Soup created by Peter and Shirley Dunican using vegetables and herbs produced by the Growing Together group on the Community Hospital grounds – with some Irish words thrown in!

Location: The Bridge opposite The West Cork Arts Centre.

Music and fun in Irish and English. This session is for all ages using the voice, percussion & other instruments to make music together & learn a little Irish along the way.  No musical experience or knowledge of Irish necessary.
