€10.00Louis de Paor — poet, teacher and editor — was born in Cork. He currently lives in Galway and is Director of the Centre for Irish Studies at the National University of Ireland, Galway.
He lived in Australia from 1987 until 1996 where he lectured at the University of Sydney and presented an Irish radio programme in Melbourne. He received scholarships from the Austalian Council in 1990, 1991, 1995. In 2000, he was awarded the prestigious Lawrence O’Shaughnessy Award, the first poet writing in Irish to do so. His style, characterised originally by lightness, clarity and directness, has become darker and more complex, though he remains to some extent a ‘public’ poet. Much of his work has been published bilingually.
