In days of old, the traditional wake was filled with playful activities, games, and rituals, both literal and symbolic. Using extracts from Séan O Suilleabháin’s book Irish Wake Amusements we explore, through play, the significance of these games, their relevance within the wider ritual and wonder if they could still have relevance in contemporary grieving processes.
We invite you to ask how might we ‘play’ again, relating to the subject of death, grief and the afterlife?
