Family Song Circle is version of Singing Mamas curated for this year’s Resonate festival.

Singing Mamas are a national non-profit working across the UK and Ireland and are a grassroots movement including mamas, nurses, doctors, midwives, musicians, teachers and community workers who are all committed to improving wellbeing through singing.

Why Sing?

Singing is proven to release happy hormones and act as a natural anti-depressant.

Reduce Stress: Gentle lullabies will soothe your nervous system (as well as your little one!)

Find Connection: Tune in to yourself and your little one whilst you connect with other women.

What can you expect from this Family Song Circle session?

It’s all about making YOU feel good. There are no auditions, no solos, no reading music. Just simple songs taught by ear. We sing the songs line by line and the group echoes it back, until everyone knows it off by heart. (Then we might add a harmony or two!). And we always make time for a cuppa and some cake.

We welcome parents of all ages, with or without children to join us. Our existing groups in Ballydehob and Bantry have new mums, mums whose children are parents themselves, mums of teenagers, and people with no children. This creates a diverse and extremely supportive community in particular for new parents and parents of young children who get the opportunity to be looked after by the others. It also gives us the chance to spend time with little ones and welcome them into the community which can sometimes feel isolating especially in rural areas.
