The Photo Focal Project is a photographic collective brought together by Carmel Winters to visually translate the lost Irish words rediscovered by Manchán Magan in his book Thirty Two Words for Field.

The exhibition features photographic works by West Cork artists and visual thinkers placed in different locations throughout Skibbereen town.

The exhibition brings the magic and mystery of ancient Irish ways of seeing back to our everyday lives.

The Photo Focal exhibition is curated by Carmel Winters, William Bock and Tomasz Madajczak who selected from over 600 images taken by the collective during 2020 and early 2021. Members of the collective include Carmel Winters, Colm Rooney, Sharon Dipity, Millie Egan, Muireann Brady, Michael Lavelle, Tomasz Madajczak, R.T. Breathnach (Tich), Jackie Nevan, Jamie Budd, Toma McCullim and William Bock.

QR codes available at key locations throughout Skibbereen link to a website with further information about the words, images and project.

This project is supported by funding from Skibbereen Arts Festival and Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre.
